For passport renewals, visa applications, and applications for Danish residence and work permits, the Embassy will provide you with the information you need and process your application, if you live in Egypt. Residents of other countries should contact the nearest Danish diplomatic mission.
GENERAL REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA WITH A MAXIMUM VALIDITY OF THREE MONTHS
One visa application form with supplementary documents completely and correctly filled in, add the applicant's (mobile) telephone number(s) on the application form and signed personally by the applicant, not by an intermediary.
Applicants travelling to the Schengen countries must be in possession of a travel insurance covering the whole period of stay.
One recent, color, passport sized photograph.
Recent and previous passports.
The submitted passport has to be valid for at least three months beyond the requested validity of the visa.
Applicants who reside in Egypt and who are of non-Egyptian nationality, must stay or reside legally in Egypt while the application is filed. This may be on the basis of a valid permanent or temporary residence permit, or a valid visa.
An applicant residing permanently in Egypt, must have a residence permit valid 3 months longer than the visa applied for if he/she is holder of a passport, and 6 months longer than the visa applied for if he/she is holder of another travel document.
Documents, which support the application, have to be original, translated into English and typed by an official translator;
The visa officer will require the applicant to show a confirmed return ticket.
The visa officer might require a confirmed hotel reservation.
In case the applicant is a minor (younger than 21 under Egyptian law) written parental authorization in English is required.
An Egyptian
Orfi
-marriage certificate is not recognized as a valid marriage certificate under Danish law.
NOTE:
An application fee will be charged upon submitting the visa application. This fee is non-refundable in case of the application being refused by the Danish authorities or being withdrawn by the applicant.
The visa applicant has to appear in person at least one time: either when submitting the application or when the passport with the visa can be collected;
If the applicant does not appear in person when applying for a visa, the intermediary will be asked to show a power-of-attorney in English, written by the applicant he or she is representing.
Please take note that it might take from four to eight weeks before the outcome is known for visa applications, which have to be referred to the Danish authorities in Denmark. Applications for consultation in Schengen only take two weeks.
Every Monday between 11.00 am and 15.00 pm, the visa officers can be contacted by telephone in order to give information about the outcome/status of visa applications sent to the Immigration service.
When submitting the visa application, the passport(s) and all documents have to be handed over to the visa officer. The passport will bear a stamp with the application number and date.
REQUIREMENTS WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA WITH A COMMERCIAL/BUSINESS PURPOSE
A recent invitation from the company in Denmark that the applicant wishes to visit to be sent directly to the Consular Section at the Embassy of Denmark in Cairo to the following fax no. (20 2) 2739 6588:
Iif employer/company owner: original commercial registration documents; tax card;
Confirmed bank statements over the past three months;
If employee: statement by the employer, verified by Social Insurance, stating when the applicant took up the present employment and an indication of the monthly earnings;
Proof of an established commercial contact with the company in Denmark like correspondence, Bills of Lading etc.
REQUIREMENTS WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA WITH THE PURPOSE OF VISITING FAMILY
A recent invitation from the person(s) the applicant wishes to visit, indicating name, address, telephone/fax number; e-mail; to be sent directly to the Consular Section at the Danish Embassy Cairo to the fax no. (20 2) 2739 6588.
Proof of employment, proof of financial means.
REQUIREMENTS WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA WITH AN EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE
A recent statement from the educational institute in Egypt confirming that the student is registered.
An admission certificate from the educational institute in Denmark, clearly indicating the length of the course/study and as from which date the student will be expected start.
Document(s) containing proof of the student's sufficient financial means while in Denmark
REQUIREMENTS WHEN APPLYING FOR A TRANSIT VISA
Confirmed return ticket.
If so required: a visa for the third country the applicant wishes to travel to after having passed through Danish territory.
